6 Months!

Hi, Abigail here.  Time again for my monthly update.  Mommy says I'm six months old now.  I prefer half a year old, but regardless, I'm practically a big girl.  I went to the doctor today and he said I look great!  Well, duh, I knew that but I guess Mommy and Daddy like to hear it from him.  I am 15 pounds and measure 25 1/4 inches.  That doctor's office is crazy if you ask me.  In this visit alone they pricked my big toe, took a tee tee sample, made me drink some sticky medicine, and gave me four more shots.  I let Dr. Smith know that I did not appreciate it all when he was trying to examine me.  Hopefully I won't have to go back there for another three months.

I am really beginning to enjoy eating foods.  My favorites are the vegetables.  I don't particularly care for the fruits Mommy has given me.  Mommy says that surprises her because she has a huge sweet tooth and Daddy still doesn't eat as many vegetables as me.  They aren't sure where I got my eating habits, but hope it will last.  Today Dr. Smith told Mommy she could "throw the kitchen sink at me" in regards to foods.  I am not sure what that means but it doesn't sound like fun.  I'll let you know if they really start throwing it at me.

In a new development, I am no longer sleeping in my car seat.  Mommy and Daddy decided it was time to switch to sleeping in my bed without even asking me.  They said I needed to drop it "cold turkey," whatever that means.  All I know is one night I was in my car seat, and the next I was in the crib.  I made them pay for that decision a few nights, and am still giving them grief about it at nap times.  That will teach them to make such big decisions without consulting me.

I am working hard on my sitting up trick.  Mommy makes me practice every day and I can last a good 15 to 20 seconds on my own before I fall over.  I'm getting better though, and if practice makes perfect, I'll keep at it.

Uncle Christopher and Aunt Jennifer passed along the exersaucer to me and I am really enjoying it.  My favorite parts are the spinner things you see me playing with in the picture below and that big sunshine that rattles.  Mommy likes it too because it can keep me occupied while she does stuff around the house.  I make sure she doesn't go too far though.  I wouldn't want her getting used to having her hands free.

Thanks for checking in on me.  I'll make sure Mommy and Daddy keep you updated between now and my next post.

It's all fun and games...

...until someone gets hurt!

Here's how it went down from Abigail's point of view:

It is so fun playing with my cousin Joshua!

Joshua, you are so silly pulling on my pajamas.  Please stop doing that.

No, seriously, cut it out.

I warned him didn't I?

Uncle Matt's Hat!

Uncle Matt, Chad's good friend from Samford, recently spent several months in Africa doing dental work.  He brought back these cool handmade hats for all of the babies in his life and Abigail tried hers on the other day.  She really seemed to like it.  It will be great to have during the "cold" Alabama winters.  Thanks Uncle Matt!

So much fun!!!

Our "Great" Adventure is sadly coming to an end. Tonight is our last night in a hotel and then it is home tomorrow!!! We've had a great time but are definitely tired and ready to be in our own beds. We spent two days in Summerville getting to know Great Grandma Giet and Pop Pop. We were also able to visit with Uncle David, Uncle Charles, Aunt Ava, and cousins Melissa, Preston, Kristen, Ashton, Nolen, and Dennis. It has been a lot of fun, despite Abigail's teething!

A true adventure is not complete without a couple of road blocks right? We've had our share of funny ones on this trip for sure. Here is a brief list in no particular order:

Joshua pooping on Uncle David within ten minutes of meeting him

One hotel room with no air conditioning

Teeth buds and a runny nose (Abigail)

Abigail pooping all over herself in the car and having to change her diaper and clothes on a bench on a busy sidewalk

Pulling over at a truck stop to nurse Abigail while Amelia and Nana ate ice cream and leaving with a car full of flies

Amelia hearing Nana snoring through the wall in her hotel room

Abigail getting her first boo boo by hitting her head on the hotel desk

Joshua getting his first boo boo by hitting his head on the hotel bed

*There are many others that would require a long story to understand*

We have definitely laughed a lot and enjoyed every minute of our trip. Thanks for following along. Enjoy a few pictures from the past few days.

The "Great" Adventure has begun!

Nana, Aunt Mil, Joshua, Abigail and I set off on Sunday afternoon for our "Great" Adventure. We are taking the babies to South Carolina to meet some of their great grand parents. We are currently 29 hours into the trip and so far things have gone smoothly. The babies have traveled so well and actually slept pretty well last night too. Amelia and I are both trying to document the trip, so be sure to check the Nolen News for trip updates as well (see my blog roll for a link).

Time to go guys, hop in the car!

Joshua, I should be on that side to get my good side in the picture.

After spending the night in Madison, GA, we traveled today to Sumter, SC to meet Gran Robbye (Joshua's great grandmother). The babies were very well-behaved at the assisted living facility and were quite a hit with the residents.

Look out tomorrow because it is Abigail's turn to drive!

We are settled in for the night at the hotel and will head out tomorrow morning to Summerville, SC to meet Pop Pop and Grandma Giet. More to come...stay tuned.

Chapel Choir Reunion Weekend

This weekend we participated in the Chapel Choir Reunion with Dawson. The choir celebrated 55 years by gathering together from many different parts of the country. The whole Gladney crew was present and we all enjoyed being together and catching up with dear friends. Here are just a few pictures from the weekend.

Congrats Uncle Reid!

Chad and four of his college fraternity brothers have remained really close and this past weekend we had the privilege of seeing them all at Reid's wedding.  We are so happy for Reid and Jessica and were honored to be part of their wedding.  Aunt Sis went along with us and helped babysit Abigail during the rehearsal dinner Friday night.  It has been a long time since everyone was together and three babies have been added to the group.  Abigail got to meet her new friends Hudson Nitsch and Charlie Lancaster.  She was also formally introduced to Uncle John, Uncle Nick, and Uncle Matt (she had already met Uncle Reid once) as well as Mrs. Margaret and Mrs. Marcie.  We had such a good time and already can't wait for Matt's wedding in September.  What will we do when all of the weddings are over????

Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the whole group together, but here are some we did get.

5 Months!

Hi, it's Abigail again for my monthly post.  Sorry I am a little bit behind, but I've been pretty busy these days.  Being five months old is a full time job, but I'm enjoying it all (if you can't tell from my frog pictures).  Daddy led a family retreat a few weekends ago for our church and I got to go too.  It was my first visit to Camp Dawson and I was able to scope it out for the Thanksgiving family reunion I keep hearing about.  I went ahead and reserved my bunk, but don't worry Joshua, I saved you one too!  I also enjoyed playing with Me-Mommy and D-Daddy that weekend when they were in town while Mommy and Daddy went to a wedding.
Here's a shot of me and Me-Mommy at the family retreat.

I am getting better and better with these so called "solid" foods.  The baby food is okay for now, but I am more interested in what Mommy and Daddy are eating.  One of these days I'm going to just grab a bite off one of their plates while their not looking.  Don't they know it's rude to eat in front of someone and not offer them any?

I am really looking forward to this coming week.  I get to hang out with Joshua for the whole week!!!  Mommy, Nana, and Aunt Mil are taking me and Joshua to meet our great grandparents who live in South Carolina.  Joshua, I have just two words for you...ROAD TRIP!  I am sure Mommy will post all kinds of pictures when we get back.  For now, enjoy this picture of me in my new shades welcoming in the summer weather.

Bring it on summer time, I'm ready!!!
